While we stare the "ATHENA" and her effects on NY, NJ and now New England the wonderful people at the NHC are STILL watching the Tropical Atlantic for signs of any possible development. I'm posting the actual discussion from the NHC so that you don't think I have lost it and made this up...

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
100 PM EST THU NOV 8 2012

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

1. AN AREA OF CLOUDINESS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAS DEVELOPED ABOUT
600 MILES WEST-NORTHWEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS IN ASSOCIATION
WITH A SURFACE TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE AND A UPPER-LEVEL LOW
PRESSURE AREA. ANY ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT SHOULD BE SLOW TO
OCCUR...AND THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...10 PERCENT...OF BECOMING
A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

Checking out the models, as there would not be a yellow circle without some sort of model support.

GFS shows a similar tropical low trying to develop near our yellow circle.. picks up steam later.

More model discussion later, there is NO Invest "yet" for this possible new system.

Mind you it's visible on imagery...
Nice to know that Jack or John Beven is watching.. I always get confused which it isbut I digress.. he does a bang up job at the NHC so whatever his name is... am glad he is there watching the tropics while we watch TWC do "Winter Storms 2012"
Thanks...
Will see... possibly a long shot, maybe not.. time will tell and so will the NHC(so happy to be looking at the tropics again)

A final note on the models.. as many are still focused on the Western Pacific Tropical Region..Note this view in the upper right corner of the next winter storm "Brutus"

(i cannot believe i just typed Brutus...)
Can TWC cover WINTER STORMS and Hurricanes at the same time??? Hmmmmnnn

The next name of the list for 2012 is TONY... for Hurricanes that is.......
